My 2" G. pulchra molted within the last week or so but I did not know until 7/4 when I discovered the discarded molt outside her den. She had eaten a day or so before I found the molt. Since then she stayed close to her hide except for today in fairly bright light she was out and about.
I bought a P. rufilata over the weekend and it molted overnight at some point. Unfortunately, it just mangled the molt, so no luck there telling what it is.
I'm still a bit nervous doing rehouses with fast T's, but, I probably always will be. I rehoused with the container inside a shoebox inside a 10 gallon aquarium with a lid ready to put on the aquarium if bolting happened.
Anyhow, all that to say it was still in the little deli cup that it was in at the pet store and I didn't know it had molted, so I opened the lid and it was a horrifying, 'who the heck is this?!?' moment because I was looking for a somewhat over 1" spider and suddenly this thing's like 2"+.
Unfortunately, it came out of the deli cup like a lightning bolt and went right into the new enclosure, so it ended up rehoused, but, otherwise I would have waited another day. AND, I probably would have picked a different container had I known how much it was going to grow with one molt. I put it in a 4" X6" Amac box, but, that's going to be too small in a single molt if it grows as much as it did with this molt.
Anyhow, I definitely feel like I got a good buy on that one now.. lol Makes me think I could actually see some nice colors on the next molt since it's already a tinge greenish after this molt. Unfortunately, whole thing happened so fast that I didn't get a photo and now it's behind a cork piece, oh well.
My female A. chalcodes decided to follow suit today .... She looks a little cramped in there but she's doing well so it appears.... This was quite the surprise
My P. Irminia molted last night. also in hiding. will give them a few days to harden before feeding. Plan to rehouse the P. Irminia, but waiting to get hold of an appropriately sized piece of cork bark
Good day to be a black spider with pink legs! Came home from work to find K. brunnipes and B. klassi had molted. Just noticed same initials backwards too. Neat.
Look who got a new sports coat! It's my G. rosea Harrison (Harry) Bottom.
Saw him yesterday more spread out but he went back to his T Cave where I suspect his molt is.
