I love rosies and mex red knees. Ive never been bitten but a couple of them would have a go given half a chance.

I've never been bitten by and tarantula. I don't hold them though. I've recently got some species that have been known to bite so I'm more cautious with them.

Aphonopelma Seemanni personally, beautiful and usually mellow T. A lot of people say Curly Hair's and Euathlus Red or Yellow are really mellow and easy to handle. Every spider has a different personality though, no matter what species. My Aphonopelma New River is meant to be very calm but it's a nutcase, not actually aggressive but you wouldn't want to pick it up.

It all depends on what you want in a T. If your not a handler I like a Salmon Pink or OBT as they're as tuff as it gets, but can be very mean.
If you are a handler Chaco Golden Knees are great, and also very hardy. I'm not a big fan of Rosies if your intending to handle. I've seen more aggressive Rosies than not..

Rosie's can go from Zen like and chill or attacking the stream of water as you refill their bowl in nanoseconds. Or at least Sonja does....

I really want a species that is hardy and doesn't mind me handling him/her sometimes. The Rosie I held at the pet store was docile but did flick some hairs a bit. Once she did that I respected her and put her back in her tank with no problem. So a Red Knee a Rosie? I'm going to get one of the two tomorrow I have everything set up for one except the substrate and crickets. Maybe tomorrow Ill interact with both and see which one I like.

Red Knees, in my experience, kick hairs like mad but are a bit more tolerant of handling. Rosies are psycho and change moods quickly. Of my T's, if I handled them, the rose hair would be near the bottom and the other Brachypelmas and my Grammostola near the top.

Sounds to me like a Chaco Golden Knee, would be perfect for you. Can't go wrong with a smithi either though.
good luck, and welcome to the hobby.

PS: Pics are a requirement around here.... ;)

I agree. My Rosie that is out often rears up ready to bite at any form of manipulation. The other one that hides is very calm, moves where I want it to go and doesn't seem to care. I'm getting used to B smithi flicking hairs, does it all the time.

B.albopilosum- Curly hair T, hands down the best "first" T you can buy. Thats including attitude, price, and ease of care..

I have to say my fave is the Red Knee (B. smithi). That may just because a Red Knee was my first, but seriously, these are awesome Ts! So calm and so pretty. :)

Excellent! I'd like a male pinktoe to mate with my female. I'd also like a male rose hair. Can't find them... I must not be looking hard enough. You should get female pinktoe, might not get a long time out of your male.
