Well, after changing out the substrate in my new T's enclosure it did a handstand and gave me a great ventral view. Unfortunately the only camera I had atm was my phone so I think I finally got a good ventral shot.


I think I have a male. What do you think?

It's really hard to see unfortunately. Can you take it out of the tank and take a pic that way?

I will try in a couple days. I want to try and get him settled in and not stress him out too much.

I tried taking a few more pics this after noon. I will see if either is clearer. But I can see a definite arch and 2 fuzzy lighter colored areas above it.

look at the shapes on the diagram bottom right. Right being Female Left being Male.
I'll go find a male Brachypelma to photograph so you have a better comparison.

I do see hairs over the book lungs...but it is sparser than the medial belly

what your looking for is almost a half circle shape, that is darker than the surrounding area. The color doesn't really work on lighter coloured Ts.
Here's a brachypelma. What do you think?

It looks like this one has a belly button...very arched...from the diagrams then this is a male. Which means the KB, which has a squared off area is a female...and my B. vagans is a female!!!
