Question Regarding the Safest Type of Water for Tarantulas to Drink

Unfortunately there aren't any studies that have been on tap water and its effects on tarantulas so all we have available is anecdotal evidence. I have been using tap water for years without any ill effects as have many other keepers. It is worth keeping in mind that some places use chloramine instead of chlorine in the water and this does not dissipate like chlorine does. If bottled water will help you sleep at night I see no reason not to use it.

It is worth noting that some bottled water is just tap water, that has been bottled. And that even natural mineral water could contain herbicides & pesticides.

I'm a bit too impatient to let tap water sit overnight. I've been using Zoo-Med Reptisafe dechlorinater for years without problems.

If the water has been purified through distillation, that might lead to other problems. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Distilled_water#Health_effects
Funny. I use Reptisafe for my snake, but not my spiders. I don't think it ever even occurred to me to use it with my spiders water. I'm sure it had something to do with adding electrolytes to the water or stimulating slime coats or some such. I'm sure either way is fine. It's not like they aren't going to put substrate in their bowls anyways. Even if they don't fill them, they give them a sprinkle.

Look up your town Drinking Water Supply and Quality report. Depending on where you live there might be a difference. Here in NYC I have been using tap water without any issues and feel good about not using single use plastic bottles ;)

Reverse osmosis water is what I use. I have a filter here at home now (cost ~$150, and $20/yr for filters) but I used to be slinging 5 gallon water jugs to the coin-op machines. Great for sensitive pets, aquariums, house plants, and people :)
