So looking forward to getting an Amblypygi , I admit that I'm at a loss as to why everyone isn't fascinated by them ;(

I'm arachnophobic and these trigger that more than Ts and house spiders do. I'm overcoming this fear slowly :) so maybe in a while i'll think they're cool.

The best feeding was after going a week with out, that was when I saw a few instant kills. The big female was the best, the way she raised her claws to the ready as it walked towards her, then a final raising, even higher, and whack! They look spectacular poised to strike..very impressive. Also somewhat mantid looking in that position.

You would change your mind if you held one just once. I guarantee it. They're completely docile and gentle if you move slowly. I admit, the first feeding I caught half horrified me, you should see them a few seconds before they strike, claws arched upward and back, beautiful. They punch the prey and snatch it, the whole process has a sci-fi horror feel..epic. And weird, they're so freaking alien, lmao. How could you not love such a creature?

I was going to say... I just looked them up and everyone is holding them

They can shuffle sideways very quickly if you startle them. They're much quicker than they look, and move like slow crabs when calm. The claw strike speed is impressive too. Love these little freaks.:)

That's what intimidates me, those nasty looking claws. That's gotta hurt if you get hit with one.

They aren't that big. Couldn't possibly hurt more than getting a full grown LP or Theraphosa nail you.
True but that's a given, you're talking about the first and third largest T's in the world. :) I'd compare that to being shot with a nail gun twice lol

Meh, none of the above would be too terrible ;) I haven't seen one of these guys act defensive towards me, anyway. They may try to avoid me herding them out but they don't get defensive about it.

Thought this was funny. I'm bored tonight so drug out the old Resident Evil Revelations 2 for my xbox one. The insects that attack you are giant Amblypygi :)

Still can't decide if I want one or not. Are they good hunters? since all I have now are lateralis roaches and worms.

I've just had mine a few weeks now, but they are really fun to watch hunt. I wouldn't use anything that burrows, but the roaches should be fine.

so no worms. I just ordered a colony starter of roaches, so i won't be buying any other feeders but the occassional worm container. I can't stand crickets now after using roaches for the last few months. Might have to add one of these to my upcoming order :)

I've tried worms but they seem uninterested. I use lateralis, they seem to love them. Crickets would work too, but lats are better. I'm going to keep trying with the worms occasionally though, just too see if one will eventually take one.
