Size of abdomen has nothing to do with sexing a tarantula. Also not all male tarantulas acquire hooks when they mature. The only 100% accurate way to sex a tarantula is with a molt.

Well of course, for sure! : )
But just by looking at it without a molt those are signs, she only provided pic of the underbelly of the tarantula so I just gave my best educated guess, from research I have done, and seen in my experience, and videos, forums thus far.
And I was also just going off my male, he has the hooks, fat pedipalps and little smaller of booty.

Good news is baby is doin swell. Eatin like a champ, webbing like a champ. Waiting for a molt.
I was so nervous since it’s my first sling. Look at those cute puppy dog eyes.
