Second T, Sad Story

I was recently browsing craigslist as I usually do, when I came across a guy who was selling his G. Rosea, who was shown being handled in a bad quality photo. He claims it is a docile female and came with a hide, and a 12x12x12 Exo-Terra for 35 bucks! I had to seize the opportunity. Upon meeting up with him I saw the poor conditions he kept the little T in... at least 11 dead, whole crickets, feces from what I believe is another animal, most likely a herp, and wood chips as substrate. Pathetic. Needless to say, I took it and immediately washed the enclosure, replaced the substrate (huge shoutout to Pets Barn for being open on Labor Day) and cleaned the hide. The beautiful little T went from a small curled up specimen to actively exploring and climbing about. After this experience, my only question is, why bother get a T if you are not going to take care of it? :mad:

I have had 2 such experiences, one from a newly opened pet shop who thankfully realized they were clueless when it came to T's and were getting rid of all they had with no expectations to get more in and the second from Craigslist. Luckily, the Craigslist guy had kept herps before, so he kinda had a clue, but the little gal wasn't happy.

I think T's and other such inverts are unfortunately the result of impulse buys. People don't do the research and end up with more than they were expecting.

The place where I got my G. Rosea gave me the WORST advice...the internet/this forum...was a huge help...Its bad when a store doesn't know how to care for what they have...

Yeah, the place I get my crickets hates to see me coming, as having raised everything from mice to lizard to fish to 'bugs' to parrots, since I harass them about their live animal enclosures until they have them to my liking.
I Bet They put the "closed" sign up When They See You coming.
Good for You tho, someone needs to tell it like it is.

Well @RubenGamez , I just had my second Craigslist rescue.

A kid had a Rosie for about three years. He has been neglecting it, and the mom posted her on Craigslist. She's in a 20 gallon tank, a sponge for a water source , NO substrate, just a piece of cardboard in the bottom.

The tank was filthy, poo and boluses and cricket parts (which I suspect to be WC) everywhere!!!!

In all, she looks pretty good. She's a bit tatty, but is in pretty good health overall. I'll get some before and after pics going.

@harleyqueen I need a name!

Dude, I am so serious. A bit of cardboard, cut to fit the bottom. With tape and such still stuck to it.

She's settling in nicely. She was like "OMG actual substrate, not a sheet of cardboard. OMG a hide, not something I can't actually fit in." She went straight into the hide. :)

I was actually thinking "Salvadora" on the way home! I always try and give girls/unisex names until I know for sure.

Salvadora it is. :)
