I am really considering making the move and getting one of the T's that sparked it all-a Pokie.

Any suggestions on ones that would be a good intro to the genus?

You won't go wrong whatever you choose :p

My favourite genus is and will always be haplopelma, i was not really into pokies but it was the p. metallica who got me REALLY into pokies. I don't know available they are in the US though..

Kenny is correct. P regalis is always a good start. Nice decent size pokie, so you cant go wrong there...

After that have a good look at all the pokies and you will start discovering which ones tickles your fancy and for what ever reason. You might just end up trying to collect them all.

As Kenny said, go cheap to start...
I'd avoid rufilatas and ornatas are a first pokie, theyre a little "meaner" than the rest...
I'd go with a striata, formosa, regalis. Theyre all pretty similar.. :)

Heh, no worries on the not starting out cheap thing...my hubby would kill me if I was even considering a P. metallica....

A P. tigrinawesseli is actually what started my obsession with T's years ago....I saw one in a shop and was mesmerized.

I'll be looking for a regalis. :)

I may have to check on those too...I can't recall exactly how much it was (In the several hundred dollar range) but I remember thinking someone would have to be crazy to pay that for a spider.... :D

Now to just convince the hubby to let me order...

Pulchras are one I have wanted since I started but haven't had a chance to get. I am hoping to get one shortly.
