Lost my beautiful pinktoe King Herod . I took him to the shop my friends own to see if they could find out why he died and apparently He was in fact a pretty ancient female. Really really upset and gutted and two days later one of my degus died of old age too . Really horrible week. Herod was a total darling so was speedy degu .

I didn't have Herod for long she spent most of her life in a tiny pot with no water or shelter in a god forsaken pet shop. I really hope it gets shut down. I'm just lucky the others I got from there haven't died as well. My friends who have a tarantulas shop further away said she was quite old but they might have just been saying that to shut me up cos I was so upset. Thanks for your msg DB it just seems the world is so full of cruelty and ignorance and neglect and us people who care end up heart broken.

Im so sorry for your loss. She was a lucky girl to spend her last days with someone who cared for her so much.

Thanks for your lovely messages. I suppose its been a long time since I've had a death and two so close together has been a real kick in the guts. I'm quite childish still never been any good at saying goodbye to any of my animals.

Sorry to hear about your loss HQ . Sucks losing a member of your family, regardless of it they have 2 4 or 8 legs..

Thanks a lot atx I know you went through it recently. I was terrified it might have been a food related problem that's why I took Herod to my friends to see if there was any clues but they seem to think it was old age. All the others are fine. My degu was ancient but still came as a shock to loose him. I wish I could toughen up but like you said they are family.

Thanks for your message. Its been horrible it was a shock to loose Herod I didn't expect it but I suppose at least she didn't die in that awful pet shop. I have been worried about the degus as they are very old but its still hard to take .
