Do T's of different genera show the same signs of an upcoming molt?
Hello
Some T's like new world's,will exhibit pre molt easier since they have urticating hairs they will lose and show the darker area on the abdomen. In the new world's(old world's also no urticating hair) there are a few genera which do not have these hairs, but still exhibit the darkening. Other possible signs, would be sluggish movement etc. With old world's, they'd become less colorful looking dull not eating and preparing a matt where they will lie down to molt. Also, some T's will just spin a matt not to molt but to see if any prey are close so don't confuse the two. Some tarantulas may also show you leave me alone,by closing up their burrows with webbing which shows an upcoming molt. I have also found this with all my different avics as well, even many other genera will display the same.

Hello
I've made a line around the area which I zoomed in on your photo, this area is an easy way to see a darkening line split the tarantulas abdomen in two. This shows a definite upcoming molt easier seen in old world and young new world Tarantulas,it's my way and in no way am I saying it's a rule etc. I would suggest testing it out with a few T's,and see if you can see long before or closer to a molt like I can.

I checked the actual T to see clearly the line split but it has already burrowed. I never noticed this on my other T's. Thanks.
