Hey, im new here and we recently purchased a B Smithi.. thats what brought me to this site. Im terrified of spiders but i got to admit this one is growing on me. I'll probably be here often with tons of questions so please be patient with me.
I also just made a thread in the general discussions forum.
The T that we got was a birthday gift for my youngest son who turned 10 and has been fascinated and in love with spiders for about 3 years now. We dont let him handle/hold it but he has reached in and petted it. Hes aware of the injury that a T can sustain from a fall so right now holding it is not an option.
Born and raised in california, married, mother of 4.. 3 boys and a girl and eager to learn about this new pet we've aquired.
Guess thats it, thank you

Please keep in mind any sort or handling or petting can cause a New World T, such as a B. smithi, to kick urticaring (read: really freaking itchy) hairs. Make sure you wash promptly with cool water.

Will do, thank you. My youngest son actually told me the same thing and washed his hands afterwards. I thought 3yrs ago that the spider thing was a faze, I was wrong. He loves them. He has even brought home jumping spiders from school in his pocket. No container, just loose in his pocket where he carried them around all day. Brought them home and set them free.

I loved watching it seal up its hideout. Fascinating stuff. 1st pic its peeking out the back.. 2nd pic is throughout the day working on its home, 3rd pic was the finale. Im not sure yet if its male or female but my youngest son named it Devin Hester after the football player, lol

No need to touch it, It's not something that the T itself enjoys so don't feel like you have too. I don't handle any of mine.
