Okay so I got this little girl July 27th and she has yet to molt. A friend of mine got her sac mate and his molted about two weeks ago. Should I be worried about her not making it?? Also I'm afraid to over or under feed her. Could someone please give me some advice on feeding?? (She's a versi and my first baby.. That's why all the questions) thank you!!!!!!!

I have had my versi for well over a year and he has molted only a handful of times. He is a good eater, but a slow grower. Don't worry about overfeeding. Unlike dogs, they know when to stop. Most of mine will kill the cricket even if they're not going to eat it. If they don't eat it or kill it after a day, take the cricket out. Your spider knows what it wants, and after a while you will learn the signs so you'll be able to tell what it wants/needs. Do not worry! Just feed it how much it wants to eat, make sure it's in a tall, humid enclosure, and sit back and enjoy your little versi. :)

T's from the same sac may not always molt at the same time so there is nothing to worry about there.

How often do you feed your T and what do you feed it?
It's still very tiny but I would say as long as it is taking food it will be fine. Once it starts refusing food then a molt may be imminent.

Please also post a pic of it in its enclosure, we'll be able to provide some more feedback when we see how it is kept.

From my experience T's will make you wait very long for a molt. I have a tiny B.Vagans, probably about 3cm DLS now, and it didn't molt for 179 days. T's will teach you to have a lot of patience, but it's definitely worth the wait.

Good luck and hopefully it will molt quite soon.

Thank you!! I keep her in one of the Jamies tarantulas arboreal sling enclosers. I feed her pinhead crickets about once every one-two weeks.
That's crazy about your B. Vagans!! I just know a lot of people have told me that baby's molt about once a month if not more.

Hi Payden,

I usually feed my smaller T's once a week, but I know that some T owners feed them twice or even three times a week. It's definitely not wrong to feed your little one once every two weeks, but it does mean that he/she will grow a lot slower than other T's. This probably accounts for the sac mate molting way sooner than yours.

The enclosure you have is fine, but I would suggest adding a plant or some cork bark for the T to use as a hide, it would also help prevent a fall that could injure your T.

Do not rush feeding it to make it grow it will shorten the T's lifespan. Enjoy experience let it have a long happy life. My Versicolor sling is growing slower than my original Versi and i am fine with that.

And as mentioned above just because they are from same eggsac doesn't mean they will all molt at same time. They would have to have identical meals and all eat at same time have same conditions this would increase chance they would have synchronized molting but would still not be a guarantee.

That by the way is an adorable sling. Mine is about that size.
