Hey everybody, I'm Fran, but most know me on the interwebs as ShadEO9.

I'm new to the world of tarantulas, after admiring from afar for many many years i finally convinced my Wife to buy me my very first T for my 30th birthday.

As pictured i have a Chilean Rose spiderling named Silva. I'm finding care sheets for such a young T pretty tricky to find on the internet, hence why i found these forums of which i fully intend to stick around to gain as much advice as possible.

So there's my short introduction, hoping to get to know many of you soon!

Thanks for reading!

welcome aboard. G.rosea are pretty easy. when young a delicup with eco earth is fine, and spray it twice a week. Feed one prey item a week, and if she stops eating stop feeding her.
When they get larger they like it bone dry, lot's of sub to dig in, a hide and a water bowl(no more misting). That's all there is too it.

Sounds simple enough! thanks!

I purchased her after doing a little homework into the best beginner T's and the C Rose kept popping up as the easiest.

My question is, She's currently feeding on pinhead crickets, does this sound about right of should she be feeding on a anything different or larger?

Thanks again for your help and advice! =)

Welcome to the forum! Glad you've joined the community!

Congrats on the new T! :) Silva is a great name. Is it named after the UFC fighter? Also, happy birthday! My 30th is this Saturday! Ugh. Getting old!

Thank you! And yes he/she is named after the UFC fighter Anderson Silva! You're the first person to actually acknowledge that too! lol :)

It isn't officially my birthday until next month, but i got Silva as an early gift from my local pet store. And i'm with you, I hate the number ''30''. It's beginning to sound too old for my liking lol :(

Hehehe. Let's pretend we're still 29 - forever!
Silva was a great fighter. Haven't seen anything more difficult to watch than his last fight though. Ugh! Unbelievable!

I know right!

It was the first time i'd ever felt sick watching UFC, and funnily enough the first time i'd convinced my Wife to watch it with me too. It was a stomach turner that's for sure. Although Anderson is making a speedy recovery! Not sure if time is on his side due to his age though. i guess time will tell. Chris Weidman has Silva sussed though IMO. A very worthy champion too!
