Hi guys,
so i have a baby red knee, i got him a few months ago and hes molted once, hes usually quite active but the last 2 days he hasn't moved at all!! he's just sitting there :S
He molted fine about 3-4 weeks ago, i didn't take out his old skin as i didnt even know he molted til days later and the skin by then was damaged.
Now where he is, hes next to his skin, what i am thinking is his old one. confusing i know!
could this be a fresh molt?? or could something be wrong? There is also a leg at the back of his tank! Its really freaking me out i'm worried, but dont want to disturb him.
does this sound familiar to anybody??
thanks
x

A Red Knee, not moving is not a big deal. That's kinda what they do.
The leg in the back of the tank is probably a piece of his old exuvium (shed).
I't's unlikely that a RedKnee at any size moulted twice in 1 month unless it's a .25" sling.

Is he on his back or normal position? I've yet to have a tarantula molt... Waiting patiently. Some of my scorpion molts come out as perfect pieces, others have pieces moved around. Maybe you red knee moved the molt and part of the dried leg broke off. If it looks healthy and is just sitting there I would maybe gently touch the bristles on the back legs and look for a reaction. I'm sure someone with more experience will reply soon.

He's upright all stretched out, nudged him a little and no reaction whatsoever :S He's not due to be fed til tomorrow so if he doesn't move when his cricket goes in there's something up. He likes to run out his hide, grab it, and run back in lol

their behaviour can change from molt to molt ...they use all of what they have to molt and it takes a bit for them to get back to normal ..what size is your T ?...my girl molted 2 weeks ago and only started eating yesterday :)

They don't always respond to touch, initially.
Pictures would be helpful. Get a few angles, good light and focus.

This seems nothing out of the ordinary...picture would help though :)

As to the non-responsive part;

Try to blow directly at her..most tarantulas do not like this and it will most likely cause your tarantula to show some signs of movement. Keep your distance though.

also : does your smithi's legs appear to be curled? A picture would help alot!

my red knee is a real pet rock, she sits in one place for a day, 2, if you try to move her she just sits there, I've always thought Gerry was just stubborn :p
