Will sling resurface?

Both of my G. pulchripes 2cm slings have built themselves an underground lair at the base of their enclosures which is sealed at the top by a huge mound of dirt. I've heard stories of slings going underground and not resurfacing for food (mainly King Baboons). How long shall I wait until I open up the top of the lair and put prekilled food at the entrance?

Monitor it in the tunnel if you could. If it's still fat, don't worry.

If you can't see anything, you could always dig it up and rehouse to something with shallow substrate.

Keep in mind this will be risky if it is in pre-molt/is molting/has molted.

I can see it in the tunnel at the moment. Abdomen is blackish. I'll leave it for another month and check then!

Yea, that's a clear sign of pre-molt once the abdomen darkens and gets fat. Keep an eye on it and good luck!

If you are able to see it, leave it. It is doing what is natural to it. Slings & smaller Juvi's often burrow, as they feel safer like that.

Buy a small torch, I have one to hand every feed day. Some of our T's we have not seen out for several months, but with the torch we can see they are alive & doing what is natural to them. We still offer food, we obviously still keep the water bowl topped up.

Some of our T's are burrowed & we are unable to see. It happens, but we only go looking after several months & if food is not being eaten.
