Molt of frustration:

My H pulchripes, suspect male, molted today. I got the molt out in time and put it straight under the dissecting scope. The molt appeared m to be chewed up & I confirmed that it was indeed chewed up!!

#$###:&&. (!$4;+ ***** ..... crap for the love of God!!

He's been hiding in the skull.... all the time & needs to harden up. Retrieving the molt wasn't hard but I had to gradually make a hole on the web and enlarge it. Due to the angle and lack of 3 hands, pics weren't possible.

&$$___}{=✓^{{} freaking impossible dang it !!

At least he just retreated further into the skull and didn't escape.

He did put on some decent size but I don't think he matured. In fact it's impossible. I only got him 5 months ago at about 1 inch in size.

The cage does it's job of discouraging escapes...to well. In fact, I seldom even see him out anymore.

I'll have to figure out how to chase him out with the lid totally closed. Maybe a small shot of cool water...

Hmmmmm

Update on Brachypelma hamorii, Pico. I got a little worried about her as she seemed to be squashed between the wood and her water bowl so I moved her old exo to give her more space. She was on her side with her legs pulsing and it worried me that her legs on the lower side were trapped under her.

Luckily by the time I went to bed she'd righted herself and all was well

True but I can still go quite long periods without any and then they come with a rush. I never get bored of watching them moult if I get the chance though.

Today was the turn of my little Pseudhapalopus sp. Blue, Neiva. All crickets visible are dead ones although it was feed night tonight Neiva missed out.

First moult of today is the little Aphonopelma sp. montane, Rivas. This is the only sling that I still have in a 1" vial but I think it may be big enough now to move to a 2"

My Dolichothele exilis, Orinoco, has also moulted today. It's now a 6th instar but still so tiny and I rarely see more than feet at the entrance to its burrow if I'm lucky.
The tweezers in the photo are the standard cosmetic ones and the paper is 3" square.

Our GBB started refusing food last week but it seemed too soon for it to molt, but it did. First molt since aquiring it was May 11th today June 3rd was the second molt, just under two months. This time it molted high up in it's web. Crap pics but I'll retrieve the exo in a day or two.

In an attempt to remove the exo this morning I totally wrecked the web and enclosed the sling in the collapsed web - naturally I quietly panicked

Left it alone for a few hours and the GBB has extricated itself, all good there, but I will have to pretty much remove the web to get the exo - and probably destry the exo in the process

Oh well
