I tried naming mine at first but it didn't stick..I have a detailed file of each spider in my mind, but I refer to them by their scientific names. Or fond nicknames like psycho and slappy, fuzzy. What always makes me laugh is people who give their tarantulas human names, like one guy named his spider "Steve"...that's freakin funny, I don't care where you're from.."Steve"....lmao..

that cracks me up too :) same with other pets. Cats and Dogs i can see some having more human names, but Steve or Frank? lol Frank is one of my parent's neighbor's chocolate lab puppies lol.

Then there's some names that fit them. Allistair (Allie for short) is the groomer's golden retriever where my parents live. That name fits her.

I name mine just because,
but I do find myself referring to them as the avic or the albo, (who eats dubia now!!)
it pleases me to name them things that make me smile,
ie: I desperately wanted the T ockerti but was afraid due to conflicting info about them, folks here convinced me I could handle it,
Her name is Amala, which means “Spotless, pure; tree”. And its a pretty name so seemed to fit.

....my albo is zombie,
now really guys, you've all seen an B albopilosum sling, that dead flesh color....self explanatory :p
Basically I have fun with the names and I'm a bit of an eclectic old broad so,

I had a "Fred" after Fred Astaire. Also a "Ginger" and "Delilah." Currently have a "Kenneth," "Beyonce" and "Paige." I think that's it for human names. Most of mine aren't named, but there are a few who earned nicknames. I've got a few, but "Bolt," "Blitz," "Boots," "Blossom," "Cherry" and "Landshark" are a few of my favorite names.

My cats all have people names, so maybe that's just a thing I do.
