I have 22, and I try to limit myself because all the slings you have will eventually become adults, and the adult enclosures will take up more space.

I'm trying to stay with 20 for the same reason but I feel myself weakening.

I have 35 tarantulas, now. Plus a jumping spider. But I also have 11 zebra finches, 2 hedgehogs, 1 milksnake, 1 corn snake, 1 bearded dragon, 6 cats, 2 jack russells, 1 rat, and a 20 gallon fish tank with a couple black kuhli loaches, a mystery snail, and a betta.

My excuse with the tarantulas is that they're one step up from caring for a pet rock. Most times I meet other keepers, they have well around 50-100. It's a large number compared to ppl who keep other pets, but I think it's the fascination with how different each species is, and how astronomically easy they are to care for. I'm arachnophobic, even, but it's me who keeps buying new species.

12 tarantulas is definitely not a whole lot. You're totally safe lol

I currently have five tarantulas and I’m waiting to get a brachypelma auratum. The tower of tarantulas is a constant entertainment for one of my cats. She loves watching them move around

I have A LOT of stuff in my collection and I'm too old to give a rat's bottom what anybody thinks about that
I lost a great deal of my collection some time ago with what appeared to be DKS but what ever it was I'm convinced it was connected to 500 red Runners I bought to start a new colony as they all died with a twitchy weird thing within two weeks closely followed by nearly 30 of my Ts as well as 20 jumpies plus about 200 babies (regius and diardi) plus other stuff
I lost my urge to get anything new for a long time but have recently started to get more again
So I currently have over 60 Ts (used to be over 100) several true spiders 2 Scorpions 4 Snakes 1 Pyschotic Iguana (Matured Male) 15 Roach colonies 19 Pod colonies 3 Assassin bug colonies (Horrida - Biggutus - Mombo) (plus 300 ish nymphs looking for homes)
There are many more Ts and true spiders I want to add to my collection plus some amphibians and phasmids which I will over time I like to space my purchases apart then I'm always getting regular boxes to open
So my advice is enjoy your collection get what you want and don't worry about people or their opinions cos it absolutely works for me
