Update: Well, he's still trying to truck along, unfortunately, it seems that only 3 or 4 of his legs are working... Still waiting for him to harden up so I may feed him... Seems his abdomen it's is on a lean aswell...

Thanks so much for the update. Man, I'll be keeping my fingers crossed that he's able to eat. Tarantulas are tough animals, so he may be fine.

Just curious, are you keeping it on moist or dry substrate?

Hopefully the abdomen thing is just a weird post molt position, or has to do with the leg issues. I will say this, there's a youtuber, I think it was spidersfromtroom who had one with a bad molt, all 8 legs were crooked and unusable, it pulled through though. Don't despair just yet man. Fingers crossed.

Moist, it's a burrower, so I'm guessing the misting I do may not be fully permeating the ground and it's still dry underneath the substrate... Thanks for the well wishes

Ah, I see. For my burrowers that need it moist, I don't mist but try to pour some water down the sides of the enclosure so that it filters through down to the bottom. If the water doesn't want to percolate down through, I'll carefully use the back of a small paint brush to make a few "channels" between the substrate and the side of the enclosure to give the water a path to travel down. This allows the lower levels to remain moist even if the upper levels dry out. It worked well when my Hapalopus sp. were quite small (I was very worried about them drying out). It's amazing how quickly the water from a misting dries up! Just something to think about before the next molt.

Please keep up updated; I'm really hoping the little guy takes some food soon...

That's actually a great idea! As far as eating is concerned, I read that waiting to feed a freshly molted T is best so that the fangs can harden properly. I guess my question would be is, how long is long enough to wait? I read that some wait 5 days I used to feed after 2 or so days until I read this after which I switched to 5. Song as the molt just happened a couple days is it safe to try and feed now?

I've always waited at least 4 days with slings, and a week with adults, to be safe. Some say slings harden much faster though. I'd wait N8tive, feeding won't really solve anything yet, but more drying and hardening might help a lot. After a few more days just start powerfeeding him. Just my opinion though, I'm no spider doctor;)

It is with a heavy heart with tears, my gf and I are updating the status of our little Pumpkinpatch. Unfortunately he did not make it... I seriously thank EVERYONE, for the support and well wishes they have given over the past few days while we tried to save the little guy... Tonight my girlfriend looked at me welling up tears in her eyes, holding his enclosure in her hands to give me the news he did not make it.... Thanks again everyone... This is the first T I've lost, and while I know this is all a part of keeping them, loss is still loss... Granted he was just a little sling, a huge space is now void in my family, because well they aren't just pets to me... They are our babies...

Damnit, that sucks N8tive. It took me a few hours and a mass feeding of my collection to feel better when my versi died. Funny how attached we get to our invertebrates. I suppose if you raise a living thing you feel responsible for it. Some are just not meant to live though. I bought 6 from the same sac too..none have molted yet, but 3 are underground and not visible..I've been monitoring them closely since you started this thread :/

So sorry to hear, nature is a vicious beast :( Hug each other and know you did everything that you were able to do.

Aw, I'm so sorry. It's always the ones with problems that find their way into our hearts the most and hurt the most when they don't make.

I agree with what everyone else has said. My Avic sp Amazonica had a bad molt, lost one leg on one side and was stuck. I used a damp cotton bud to slowly move it away. It eventually removed the two legs that were stuck in the exuvium and sadly I lost it a couple of days later. They're are so fragile when that Small but after a molt or Two the legs will be back to normal :) I hope the little one recovers quickly!

Man, I'm very sorry to hear that. :( I get very attached to mine as well, so I definitely understand.
