It was in a lean-to garage
So pretty much the same concept as being "external" then. Gives me a bit more confidence. The alternative is to convert the garage and have a shed/office for the gym equipment instead. The garage is integral but the boiler is in there and I don't like the thought of any potential gas issues.

I don't want to but simply don't have the space for them all when adults. I don't mind growing on slings a bit and then letting others enjoy them after that. I am looking into insulated outside sheds/offices as an option but worried that if power stops for whatever reason, I could lose them all. I think there is alarms you can get to notify when electricity is no longer supplied so I am sure there is a way round it.....☺
Ive been looking around for a shed to move all mine into, and get some electrics wired upto it. I searched high and low and ive found one that is perfect.

http://www.argos.co.uk/m/static/Product/partNumber/3819322/searchTerm/Palram+shed.htm

Easy to put up, solid, has vents at the top which could be blocked in winter and open in summer. The roof has tinted skylights that let in some natural light but is dark enough to keep the shed contents private. Insulation can be fixed inside and then just boarded over.

I had a split air conn in there which was great, it kept the temps constant all year round plus keeping the air fresh.

Deffo worth a look. Not sure I want plastic as main material. I know easier to maintain but not sure could attach bkarding/insulation needed easier than with wood. Will look further into it though. Thank you

Did you say you had a mm b.smithi phil?
Sorry for late reply. No, my smithi is a mature female. I have no confirmed MMs atm although based on some ventral sexing by others on here, I may have a male M. Balfouri (Socotra Island Blue Baboon) but I think this will be confirmed or otherwise at next moult.

No probs phil. Oh right, i thought you had a mm. Ive just got another sub male and an adult female but was thinking about trying to pair her up earlier than waiting for my males to mature. Not to worry, im sure the wait will be worth it if i get a good sac on my first breeding attempt lol.

I am hoping to start breeding soon as have plans for an insulated outdoor site to house loads of Ts and start breeding programmes. One of the reasons to try and set up a bit of a UK network of members so we can all send our males out to pasture .....lol

Does that mean you be starting like a stud book as well .
Hi, all I was thinking was trying to see what was out there in the UK and if enough interest then males could be loaned out to well known and reputable people rather than the wider communities and ads you get in something like preloved (not knocking preloved btw but at least you got a better feel once you get to know members on forums like this). I am planning on increasing my collection significantly and so breeding will become an option but so will general sharing of available Ts to trade, gain 1st hand experience of keeping etc etc.

i like to browse local pet shops but dont buy [if i can help it]. recently 2 local shops have closed down . iv a feeling shops in my area are all supplied by a travelling T supplier who quite often has big specimens . its in my imagination but i imagine a panel van fitted out with racks of spids touring the shops ,sometimes taking back the slow movers and rotating the stock.

Hi corij thanks for replying and sharing your collection. .....I now have a mental image of a wandering van full of spiders. You may have even stumbled across a business plan there......in fact there are a few members on here (myself included) who have had their spiders delivered by this method direct from Poland. They were purchased on line first and picked and packed rather then just random Ts turn up jus to be cLear. ....lol. For me, the idea of someone having a load of Ts in a van turn up would be like a kid drawn to an ice cream van.....lol. I wonder what tune they would play when they arrive??? .Tarantula by Prodigy perhaps ☺

i say that cos i used to visit a reptile/spider shop in a neighbouring county, when i was working in that area probably 50 miles away . the spiders were labelled exact same way, same print font as the ones in shops near me. have you been in your local spid shops? if so please describe the labels and we can get more of an insight to how far the van/truck travels "on the round"

I know the spider shop often supplies to the 2 local spider shops in my area but they tend to be the slings (always typed labels with scientific name, common name and usually recommended temps and humidity . Most of the larger Ts I have seen in shops are what people have brought in selling their collection to start with lizards or snakes as an example. TBH, I rarely buy from local stores as they tend to be more expensive. I buy most off "the web" if you pardon the pun and have just started to use a couple of Poland suppliers recently. Was a bit of a leap of faith though going outside the UK but all have been good specimens to date and they tend to have a greater selection than the UK suppliers.

its an unlikely yet intresting subject -the T supply chain. i suppose theres old-school breeders who have been doing it years are the backbone of the industry . instead of how i imagined/hoped it may be [the immac panel van with cool racks]

its possible instead its a "stinky pete"on benefits- in his old Volvo estate -who tours the shops in my area [tho he does label them like a pro and puts the price on too] i spose thats the final price and not the shopkeepers price
