Hi all
After few years of being limited by space and having only one rack with width of 120cm to play with and house my collection I finally moved house and now I have a little spare bedroom(Floor space is around 330 cm x 220 cm)that I am allowed by my significant other to convert into spider room. Its still early days and there is a lot to be done unfortunately due to life happening I am limited with time and finances atm so things will be happening slowly.
At the moment .Room is a bit messy and a lot of temporary items in it but it is what it is.
Managed to get my racking with most of my spiders behind the door and it fits perfectly there. I am planning to get 3 more racks to cover the other 2 walls and window side will be where my work bench will be.Also will get to clip on fans to move air around on timer they will replace the fan curently you see in the pictures but that does the job for now. Also temperature controller for the space heater that I have in case thats needed .Have to install new sockets and light fixture including dimmer switch that I have already just need to find the time as will be away for a week end of next week.So that is job one on the list.Today I spent the day fitting the new termal roller bling and putting some draft excluders on the door. Also mixed some new substrate after I used what I had to setup few enclosures as some of my spiders can do with an upgrade. I have a air brick vent in the room and will cover that with a framed perforated metal sheet with 1mm holes so even small slings won't be able to get into that.I do have mesh with parts of mm holes but decided against using that as it will clog rather quick with dust and that will be job number 2 as still waiting on the sheet after they send me wrong size.
Finances are curently on the skint side after the house move and me pulling the trigger on some rare spiders and a incubator is needed for my breeding projects. I tried using a DIY one made of Styrofoam box but it ended up being a disaster and due to bad setup and few not considered bits lost 90% of my last sack during incubation. Not great and Im gutted about it but you live and learn. Anyway now while my finances bounce back I still have some temporary storage box enclosures to set up to keep myself busy. Then racking to be ordered so can tidy up the room and will take it from there.
Few pics of the current state and some of the new additions below.
Juvenile Pair Xenesthis sp blue
Juvenile female Pamphobeteus sp Mascara
Not rare but was at decent price
Also there are
Pamphobeteus ultramarinus juvenile female and Avicularia purpurea but they are shy and haven't caught them for a decent pic yet.
Thanks for reading and hope you all have a good day.
Regards Konstantin
