Tarantula rescue

So I've spoken with the rescue group that I currently volunteer with and asked if they ever had anyone surrender any tarantulas. They told me it has come up in the past but they never had anyone willing to give them a new home, so they promised to let me know right away if the situation should come up again

That's great, Just be prepared to take in poorly cared for Ts.

I'm definitely prepared for the worst. Hopefully I don't get any that are too far gone...that's the worst part about rescue work. The T keeping hobby doesn't seem very large around here, so not sure how many will actually come in, but I'm glad that I can be an option for those that do.

I have lots of pages/videos on T icu bookmarked. I've never had experience with a pinch grab; so that will/would be quite the experience I'm sure lol

I don't like it when uninformed people have Ts. One time I talk to a classmate and I got so mad at him! He told me he had a G. rosea and it "died" so he threw it out even though everything he described sounded like molting rather than dying. When that classmate said "What's molting?", I smacked him on the head and called him a microscopic idiot!

Very true though...you see a lot of folks that are clueless...I just had a bad experience baby sitting some geckos that boiled down to well meaning folks not reading up on their critters.

Unfortunately people trust the advice given to them where they buy their T's...and as we all know that's usually not a great idea.
