Good Morning All! Greetings from Margate : ) I'm a complete newby to this spider thing and it probably wouldn't have occurred to me to get a T as a pet unless my daft neighbour hadn't bought me a Lasiodora parahybana (salmon pink) for Christmas! Well, he, she, it has been living in an old carboy with a couple of inches or so of sub-strate and a log! He, She, It has been named Bernard after a fave author and seems quite 'happy' (?). Bernie has moulted twice in the six months he,she,it has been resident but seems to do nothing apart from hide. Is Bernard lonely? Will hesheit eat any companion I introduce (as I suspect) or will it just ignore it if it's too big to eat? Is Bernie bored? (Do spideys get bored?) As you can tell I Know Nothing (foreign voice) so I would be very grateful for any tips and pointers that you may have. I look forward to 'meeting' more of you at a later date. Til then, have a good 'un, Chris

Hi,
Welcome to the forum, how big is your LP as slings they tend too hide away then once they start to get a bit of size on them they stay out on display more,as for you getting another one to keep him company then that will end in disaster one of them will end up eating the other one,T's don't really get bored as long as you feed them and they have water and somewhere to hide then their happy....

Hi! Welcome! Great info and lots of helpful people here... ;)

I have a concern, though.... You said your LP is in a carboy. Is it a plastic or glass carboy? How big is your LP? You see where I'm going with this...? o_O How do you intend to get the T out of the carboy after it grows? It will get up to 11" leg span...and most carboys a have a 2-3" opening...so, just wondering. If it's plastic, no problem...cut the top off. If it's glass...? If it's glass, how did you make air holes?

Again, welcome! See you around the forum!:D

LPs grow very quickly and as PamCz says you may have problems getting in out. I've had mine just a year and they have both grown from 1'' to over 6'' in that time. They tend to come out of hiding as they get bigger and will eventually spend almost all of the time on the surface.
