Hi,

I want to get just a standard rose hair tarantula for my classroom and I am at a loss as to where to get one. I am wary of petco and do not want to resort to buying one there. Can anyone help me out? I want a CB female.

I live in Northern California if anyone knows of any place I could actually go to.

Thank you!

Welcome to the forum! Thanks for joining - you've come to the right place!

We have a couple reputable breeders here on the forum. Have you checked our classifieds area?
There may be someone local to you that could help you out. I don't know specifically about anything in N California. How North are you?

Thanks! I'll check that out. I live in the bay area.

I've looked on a few websites that I've seen recommended, however they don't let you choose the gender. When the lifespan can vary 10+ years between the genders, I feel like I should be able to choose what I want. It's a little frustrating!

Most online breeders do have a section for mature specimens, or you can try emailing them and asking as they may online have 1-2 available. With that being said, try [email protected]. He is fantastic. @Kenny. here on the forum is also a great resource, though I don't think he has any rosies.

I guess it never occurred to me that they obviously cannot sex a spider that isn't mature. That's unfortunate since it does differ so greatly between the two.

Jamie's Tarantulas is online and actually in California. Go to jamiestarantulas.com, that's where I got all of my Ts and I am very happy with everything.
