How often should slings molt? Sam is about the size of a nickel and molted about a month ago. My question is. Can she be molting again. I am a little concerned being her carapace is very large and discolored. Last molt she lost her hair but that was all. I don't want to disrupt her if she is in molt or if it is an issue correct it asap.

How often they molt will depend on species, size, temperature, sex and how well they eat :)
Ok well we all established so far she is unidentified. She was supposed to be a black Brazilian but as you can see she is not that. Room temp i keep around 75 f for all of my animals. I feed her very well whenever she will take crickets i give them. About 1 every other day give or take. Enclosure is small critter 3x6x4 inch. That is the best i can do for description.

How do you know she is not G pulchra?
On average slings can molt about once a month, but there are many factors.

It really depends on a too many factors to have a definite answer. E.g. when I was living in Southeast Asia, my slings molted very often and grew quickly because of the tropical climate. My P. metallica spent more than 4 weeks in premolt here in Canada, even though I have the temp at 70-75F, more than I've ever experienced with Pokie slings before.

It kinda sucks that she was my first.. I have pics posted of her. She changes color dramatically when she molts. So its hard to say for certain what she is. I'm pretty sure i know what she isn't.

No way of saying..I got my pulchra at 2 inches, so I don't even know what they look like that small. It's very possible they look like that, I know many species change color dramatically when they start getting adult colors..have you looked up pics of slings? It looks like a stripe legged species, but that could be misleading..and if you're talking about Grammastola, Brachypelma you're talking about a huge difference in growth rate compared to others..sorry I can't be more help.

It's ok. I'm just trying to get general extremes in both most frequent and most infrequent molts possible

Could be anything from every couple of weeks to every 2 or more months. That looks like a Grammostola sling to me, though I could be wrong. The leg stripes are odd.

I have a newer pic. I don't like going near their tanks when molting. In my opinion i think she is a Nhandu chromatus. I am no expert by any means. I truly do not know

Lol, looks like my genic sling. I have no idea..it looks like a few, but it resembles my genic the most..kind of..I don't know how they could confuse a genic with a pulchra, I thought maybe you got a pulchripes, but it doesn't resemble mine as a sling..I'd be frustrated, not knowing..

Yeah they insisted it was a black.. mysteriously had none available but then still agreed to give 100 bucks of tarantulas free of charge.

Sorry, I'm at work, got distracted. As far as molting, this little female molted every few months, regularly, but she is NOT a fast grower, as people describe genics. She's medium, I think. She might speed up if I raise temps, but my T room is my bedroom and stays at 75.
