Hi all! Real NEWB here. LOL So I been wanting a Grammostola pulchra (Brazilian black) for about a year now. Just been reading and You Tubing everything on T's. My friend at work owns a Chilean rose and told me to check out his pet shop. I thought to my self there is no way they will have what I want, but I will go check it out. So anyway yea was I wrong. They had a 3.5 inch Brazilian Black that had been there for about 14 months. I bought her FAST!
I had a good feeling she was a female for some reason. I bought her in her enclosure she was already in, figuring it was best for her stress with the move to my place. I check on her daily to just make sure everything is good. On the 3rd day I noticed she spun a web underneath her. That night when I got home I realized she had molted. Very cool!
I figured it be awhile before I could really find out if my girl is a girl. Anyway I am blabbing away and just want to see what everyone thinks about her. Male or Female? All of the studying I been doing, I am 90% sure I got lucky with a beautiful female. I would be 100% sure, but I am a NEWB! Any advice would be appreciated. Thank You :)

Hello and welcome.
Nice to see someone starting with a G. pulchra, instead of rosea/porteri, you did great!
One of the faster growing T's in the genus and gorgeous right after a molt. They are large when fully mature, reaching 7", although that takes about 10 years. Lol! Rarely kick hairs, mine never did, and only refused food during pre molt. Sold him a couple of years back to breed, should get another one, kinda miss that boy. [emoji17]
Being that I'm blind in one eye and can't see out the other. Lol! The last picture is female. Lucky you!

Hey Kraft!

Nice starter T! G.pulchra are awesome and seem to love exploring. If you handle her just know they can be skittish, but I've never heard of one biting a person ever.
