Hello everyone it is my first time creating a thread so do excuse me if I make any mistakes.
As something introductory I would like to know you guys' favorite Tarantula and why. I hope to use this to potentially add to the species that I already own.
All responses will be appreciated thanks.

Welcome. My favorite species is Psalmopoeus cambridgei. It was the first species of tarantula I saw that made me think "I HAVE to have one of those" ive been hooked ever since. I now have a ~5" female and picked up 3 slings to raise up a male for her back in October. But of course all 3 are looking female ventrally.

Mine is the T. Blondi. Nothing more impressive than a full size female (12" or so) that weighs nearly 6 ounces)!!! Watching one feed is an experience that cannot be properly described with words.

Always like the more uncommon Ts. It always feels surreal when I see a T. blondi in person simply because of how big they are. Can't imagine getting a tarantula as a gift. Would be great though.

Unlucky man I got a bunch of GBB to try and rear up in to male and female. Luckily one is male but he grows at a much faster rate than the females so will probably have to get another few males later.

That's why you need 50 or so for the variety :)

Hi.
I've always chosen Ts for their colour or pattern, OBT, P metallica, O.diamantinensis etc. but then I got a free B. albopilosum and immediately fell in love with the little busy body - I now have 3 of them.

I got mine from my friend, I was babysitting his G. Rosea for a little while and as a thank you he got me my Colorativillosus. The wife wasn't too happy, but she has been supportive.

Hi! I'm new as well. actually this is my first post on anything ever... I use to have about a dozen different species. then I met a girl and gave them up when w moved in together. we're no longer together and am now start a new collection. About half were poeci's which were fascinating to watch. when I started up again late last year I bought 7 terrestrials from a guy on craigslist. I just this weekend traded for several arboreal, again poeci's, mainly because I want to display my spider up against the walls on tall terrariums as opposed to shallower, wider table top terrariums. Also, what really got me back into the hobby was a video I saw on YouTube of a Singapore Blue and the Sapphire Blue. I now have two p. metallica slings (thanks to evil's arachnids) about 1.5" and an adult female a. metallica. So basically for me it's colors and arboreal.

Right with you on the pattern color lingo. As well as that I love a wide variety of temperaments as it always fascinates me how much they differ.

Unfortunate to hear about the relationship. At least it got you back in to the hobby. I always edge around poecis but haven't yet got one. I feel they have a big reputation for the wrong reasons. I may be wrong but I just feel that the only reason they would ever get the rep is because people don't respect them enough and are cought off guard by their agility.

Yes, but I'm finding that their personalities can differ within the same species too and you can't always take what care sheets say about temperament. My first T was an OBT, bad reputation, but mine hides away and I've not seen her for months making her the easiest T to care for. She leaves me a pile of rubbish to clear away every few weeks which can also include a moult. I'm always on the watch for her just in case though.

My son has a 6.5'' P. vittata and I have a 2'' P.metallica and they are both quite calm as long as you move gently near them.

My OBT was exactly the same sadly he is gone now as he was a male and matured last year.
