Welcome

Do you know the exact species/scientific names of your fire leg and baboon?

Start keeper journal threads with pics!

Welcome to the forum and thats a great pic.

Did you get the smithi recently? A number of us UK members managed to get some of the Mexican import AF B smithi from a certain on line shop (with CITES) certificates so just wondering if yours was also from there

Do you think this tank is suitable,or a bit to big?
I'm worried about your T as you've got her housed on cat litter? It's pine based and toxic to spiders so please change out your substrate and house her on just plain coco fibre or organic topsoil (westlands brand) if you don't it's the fastest way to a dead spider :(

In my opinion it is a little too large yes. Exo terra also have a reputation for causing injury when the claws get caught in the mesh so a lot.of us who have exos., replace the.mesh with acrylic.

The best thing for the spider is also a lot more substrate to narrow the gap between the top of the enclosure and the substrate. The larger the gap, the more chance that if your spider falls, she could get hurt.

The floor space could be restricted by adding more plants (not hard caves or objects for the same "fall" risk already mentioned).

A 10 to 14litre plastic storage box with a shallow depth are ideal for this species. You can also easily drill holes for cross ventilation.

This is the set up I have for my AF smithi the substrate is also banked so there is the opportunity to climb and also burrow deeper into the offset substrate.

I like to mix coco fiber and peat moss 1:1, or more peat moss, and shred up some sphagnum moss to hold moisture for substrate. You can add sand to this too, then dampen to desired moisture level.

The peat moss resisted mold well and you can compact the mixture like soil so it's not too springy. Tarantulas hate soft surfaces.
