What do others put in their mealworms for moisture for them? Anything? I never used to bother with anything & my mealworms lasted OK, but since starting to put a chunk of potato in. I have found my mealworms look a lot more chunky & juicy.

The only downside I have found is that the porridge goes mouldy, if the potato is too moist.

I give then small red apples cut in half, they love them and burrow in them (I tried granny smith as well but they seem to dislike them).

Correction, mine are actually "superworms" so they might be a bit different in their taste than regular mealworm.

Dried fruit is a really good idea. Moist, but not too moist & easy to keep long term.

Dried fruit is a great idea! I'm off to sacrifice one of my dried apricots.

I tossed a big chunk of fresh tomato into my mealworm bin last year and regretted it so much. i couldnt believe the sheer volume of grain mites spilling out, they were all over the counter, too. so many of them i could scoop a whole bunch up and fill a 13oz delicup 1" high

I use potatoes too, you just have to make sure the bedding doesn’t touch the potato. I cut mine in half and place them in skin side touching the bedding.
