Hey everyone my name is Jake and I just got my first tarantula on Friday! I ordered it from Jamie's Tarantulas and it's a Salmon Pink Birdeater (Lasiodora Parahybana) sling that's about 3/4 inches. I have no complaints, it came safe and sound even after being 3 days in the mail. Although i am new to owning a tarantula i have wanted one for many years so i have done my research, currently i am being a helicopter parent because it hasn't eaten yet. I have only offered it pre killed 2" superworms, and I am still learning how to keep the humidity in the right range of 60-80% (my problem is having it too high around 90-100% after misting). Any tips / knowledge / judgement that anyone wants to give me i appreciate.

Hi there Jake and welcome to the Forum.... I would like to give some advice, but I guess I am still not that expert to offer... Same as you, I am still a newbie in caring T's... Anyway, for sure there are lots of experts and masters on this forum that will guide us... For additional info, you can also try to search in other websites on how to take care of your L.P.... Enjoy your new Pet...

Hi. LPs are a great choice, easy to care for generally good feeders and fast growers. I have 2 that I got at around 1'' and they are both around 5-6'' now after only 9 months. I fed mine on crickets from the start and had no problems with them. Don't worry too much about humidity, mine had water bowls from the beginning and one constantly spilled it so the humidity in its container was fairly high but the other didn't spill its water and remained quite dry and they have both thrived.
