Hello everyone!

I'm fairly new to the tarantula scene, been only caring for them for about a year, but I have been caring for reptiles since I was a young boy. A friend came to me asking to take care of his Rose Hair while he was on deployment and the rest is history. I know have the 4 T's mentioned in my signature, with my most recent being my Brazilian B&W Aellope, which I just received as an early X-mas gift two days ago! She is great and doing very well so far!

I'm very excited to join this community since there are only a handful of enthusiasts where I live. I look forward to sharing my experiences and love for T's with everyone!

I've kept snakes in the past and my son had lizards but I bought my first T in the hope I would get over my fear of spiders. It hasn't worked, I'm fine with the Ts, just had one run onto my hand tonight, but still don't like ordinary spiders. I now have 19 Ts.

19, that's quite the number! I have my four Ts, a bearded dragon, a fat-tail gecko and my wife has her two cats, and I already feel like I'm running a zoo lol.

Welcome to the group and the addiction! A G. rosea was what pulled me in too! I was scared to death of spiders until I met that tarantula and that was in 2009.

I know what you mean about not having anyone near you that's into the hobby. My husband is a US Marine and we move around a good bit. For the first time since getting into the hobby there are people around me that are breeders and such and it is great! Hopefully someday you will stumble on a few more people.

What part of the world are you from? I'm in Southern CA.

Washington state. There are breeders in the Seattle area, but I live on a small island and there is no one here. Lots of reptile breeders, but no Ts

It is an addiction, I hope there is not cure. I tried to count my spiders recently, and didn't succeed. I had around 600 H mac slings recently, and now I am down to three. The number is always changing, so it is difficult to keep up. I should try again this weekend:)

I think that reptile breeders will always outweigh us tarantula lovers/breeders. :( II never knew there was an island up there. I'm going to have to google that one now.

There better not be a cure, if there is I want to stay far, far away from it! It sounds like you might have better luck herding cats than counting your Ts!

It's part of the San Juan island chain called Whidbey island. It's not far from the mainland, but I do feel secluded out here.

Welcome to the life. I think it's a natural progression to go from reptiles to tarantulas . I have been into reptiles since I was very young and now I'm getting into t's. 4 spiders in so far..
