Horned lizards (horny toads)

Took my daughter with me to the sand pits to sight in my rifle, and she caught 3 of these guys. They were everywhere

To my knowledge, yes they eat ants, we have several ant colonies in the yard where we take them to feed.

I believe they can squirt blood from their eyes, I've handled a lot of these and never seen them do it however. Probably a last resort

The lizards have been released back into the wild. After further research I found that they are specially adapted to eating ants. They can be kept in captivity and fed other insects but require a formic acid supplement to do so and that's not something we felt like dealing with
