How's it going, people? So I'm looking into the hobby and after all my research that the internet has to offer I've come to the conclusion and my heart is set on lasiodora parahybana as my first T. Any owners here with some tips or info that maybe i havent been exposed to yet? Or maybe just chat about the animal or T's in general? ..... I'm so lonely... LOL . ;)

Welcome, not a bad T to start with so long as you're in the know with humidity. When I first started keeping tarantulas I would always be intimidated by tarantulas that required high humidity. I'm sure you'll be fine though :)

If I need a humid environment I try to not give too much ventilation e.g. if I try maintain high humidity in an exo terra it escapes super fast because of the mesh top. My centipede needs high humidity so the way around that is to create less air holes to keep the humidity in, I still made sure the air can circulate though. I didn't know ball pythons needed humidity XD

I'd say so, but rearing slings can be very rewarding. Slings are often a cheaper option as well, you just have to consider if you can properly house and care for slings (humidity wise). Also patience is another thing with slings, depends if you want a showpiece or a small jar on the shelf, and if you want to rear a T or just own one.

If you can get an L. parahybana around 1'' dls you should fine. They're tough nuts, eat very well and grow like weeds. My 2 were about 1'' when I got them 9 months ago and they're both well over 5'' now.

Welcome to the forum an LP is fine for your first T as Enn has said their pretty hardy great eaters and fast growing you should be fine with a sling,Here's how I have kept mine as slings 32 once deli cup air holes around the sides for cross ventilation slightly moist substrate bottle cap for water dish, cork bark for hide, temps 75-80 feed twice a week.

Also don't get to worried about humidity with them it's not like we're talking about T.blondi or stirmi here...

Wow thanks for all the replies! I don't feel so soul-crushingly lonely anymore (it's funny because it's true...)! Well I've got three options. Numero uno is most likely a juve around sixty bucks but I've never seen him he's always hiding. And two slings both twenty five and another twenty i belive for the starter set up. Pretty neat little deal rectangular plastic box with a ventilation screen and substrate included.
