Hello, my name is sage and I'm fairly new to the tarantula community, but I have been interested for a long time and done as much research as I could possibly get my hands on. I finally bought my first tarantula (a rose hair) about a month ago. Her name is Ophelia (or "Fifi" for short) and she is between 2 and 5 months old, according to the pet store I got her from. I wasn't sure about getting a T from a store considering they don't really know what they're doing most of the time but when I saw her she crawled up to me and gently pawed at the glass and I fell in love with her. I'm really enjoying her company and I'd like to start collecting tarantulas and getting more involved with the hobby, preferably after I move to a bigger house and can devote a room specifically to my T's so as not to disturb them. I really look forward to interacting with people here c: I still have a lot to learn.

Welcome aboard twiztidarchangel. Thank you for rescuing that Rosie from the pet shop. Hopefully, she still has a long life ahead of her.

Welcome to the forum.
Since you are very new to keeping Ts, I suggest you stay with NW terrestrial species til you get the basic husbandry skills down pat. I good source is getting The Tarantula Keepers Guide, lots of information in it for beginners, just ignore the "handling your T" section as nowadays most "do not handle" at all.
Good luck trying to keep just one T, its an addiction that knows no end. Ask anyone on the forum. Lol!
Post questions anytime we're here to help.
Good luck.
Happy T'ing.

Welcome, pet shops are useless when it comes to tarantulas. If it is your tarantula as your profile pic it is certainly older than 5 months. I've seen a pet shop keep Ts under heat lamps before. Shows how much they know. Have fun :)
