That's because the one in the picture has eaten a lot and is probably nearing the end of its current molt cycle. Abdomen size is not an accurate way to determine sex or species, any tarantula can have a huge abdomen depending on how much it's eaten.

You're right there she moulted a week after that photo was taken.

Ha yeah, ive read to watch that, incase you get an obese spider!
She does need a better inclosure, a deeper one.
I had her in an aboreal set up with the heat constantly running, because the Borneos need 72-78° f. So i now need to figure out what the new breed needs.

Alright i put her in a new enclosure, she actually went on a little jog around my room between (she took off out of the bowl before i could get something over the surface, she is FAST)
But now shes chilling near the top. Id always heard with my Rose Hair that even small drops are bad. I cant remove the bowl thats in there without opening and i cant risk a runner again either. And opening it to get a gloved hand in seems risky for her extremely sudden movements too, which also lead to a drop on the sides shes at.

Invest in some long tongs. It's much easier to slide tongs in rather than a bulky gloved hand and they come in so handy for removing rubbish and moults.

Yeah ive been watching videos, and tongs seem to be necessary with every experienced T handler. Ive only had her a few days, when pay day rolls up, I'll grab some.

Tongs or forceps. I prefer the forceps, they are easier to grab things with, especially from awkward angles, which is hard to do with tongs. The ones with the rubber tips work best.

i was looking at some 11" bamboo tongs on Amazon. Thought they might be better than metal in the case of a fang strike. Not sure how long they'd last though.
