I am allowed to comment on 100% of threads as is anyone else, but how one comments that puts me and you apart. Never have I said I know everything, since I've always said WE ARE ALL STILL LEARNING ! I don't know what could be misunderstood by that ? As for T's wellbeing,if its truly about that then the best thing is if we all let our T's go back to their original origins since they are kept against their will. As for enclosure care,no where in the wild will you ever in your life find a sterile environment please show me one natural habitat of a T which is sterile and clean ? As for saying they are kept as pets, now the enclosures must be to a certain standard is that the T keepers standard or the T ? As for you insulting me,I will let that slide. Please read or when making statements like I think I know it all,or think I'm so and so make sure its validated. I love T's,and I like talking to people its a forum so I will try and make myself part of a discussion. One other point to take with this,if I was a know at all and my maths is quite could you would have realised that I don't comment on nearly half of the posts not to mention 95% so you have a great day.

Hijacked thread. And this is what keeps me away from theese forums. 1 roaches are hard to find where I live 2 I have other reptiles that eat crickets 3 thank you Martin for you advise as well as rosehair123. When I comes down to it this is a win. Not mites or anything harmful and I don't need to buy pin heads for a little bit. Yes the water dish spilt over after I put it back last time so what does that make me a bad keeper not at all. Crap happens.

It's a pleasure, like rosehair said as well just move the T or take out the crickets. I hope you post many more messages, don't feel that you are in any way inadequate since what matters is the T is healthy and you will learn more in time. I am still learning, and I will have 200 T's before the end of the year and not counting egg sacks or offspring. It's a daily learning thing, and its fun to learn !

Me harsh!!! Well you comment on 95% of peoples threads, thinking you know everything about t's, this forum is to give advice or find help if needed, but you come across like your Stanley A Schultz!!well the tarantulas we keep are not in the wild so they should have a clean enclosure, "since everyone forgets where tarantulas are found" bit harsh!! I always thought they were found in the sea
Martin might not know everything but then again he IS a staff member/moderator of this forum and I'm pretty sure he didn't just receive the honor because he's cool. He has given me pretty good advice in the past and I trust what he says. I read his reply and there was nothing harsh about it. He is right when he brings up the point about not being too harsh or critical. We're not on Facebook, there should be no pointless fights or back-and-forths here.

Far to many crickets to catch she would be much easier to move and considering I have another rubber maid ready it's all good
I've experienced this with my T. So what I did is I scooped the pinheads one by one.. so as not to move my T. The next day, another enclosure also had pinheads, so I scooped my T out and into another enclosure.. :)

Another thing I tried doing, I added a very wide shallow water dish while the T was in its cave.. It drew the pinheads to drown.. most of them.. It somehow worked..

Haven't tried it on mites. I might as well do it when I would have problem on mites.. mite infestation would be more of a problem than pinheads. Thanks for sharing.

What happens is,mites break out due to an unclean enclosure and over wetting substrate. Their bodies are made up mostly of water,so when the substrate dries out they need to have water again and that draws them to the water bowl and imminent death.
