I bought one as an impulse buy at a bug fair for ten dollars didn't buy crickets because then those would be pets too. I fed the T a cricket from outside(this was a week ago) and I assumed this was safe because these crickets seem to happily breed and feed so you hear them outside at night. Thankfully the tarantula seems okay after eating. I ended buying a little cage and 9 crickets today threw in bits of food and hopefully these aren't dirty and kill the tarantula after it deals with one of them.:(

Honestly I wouldnt suggest feeding them crickets from outside because you dont know where theyve been. Your best bet is to get them from a pet store that sells them. Those are the best. Also superworms are really good for them and they love them. I feed mine one every few days but their diest is mostly crickets. What kind did you buy?

The tarantula is close to 1 inch and is most likey a grammostola rosea because the color of the legs and carapace are a pink color.
Also the crickets I bought came from a tank that is a bit dirty , the clerk said not to worry, but damn i didnt know what to think. I saw no proper food for them to eat...well unless they're voracious eaters and ate it all by the end of the day. Water is provided through soaked napkins... The egg carton is obviously dirty. I needed to buy a small plastic cage for the crickets too since that plastic bag definitely wasn't good enough. Now I have pet crickets too. I think dropping a cricket tonight should be done, but the tarantula is in hiding right now so maybe tommorow noon.

I always get my crickets a week or two in advance of feeding, then I gut load them myself with healthy stuff...fresh veggies, and some cricket quencher (which has added protein). After a week of clean eating, you know that no matter what they looked like when you got them, they'll be healthy for your T's when you do feed them. :T:
