Hey guys, my boyfriend has encouraged me to create an account here now that i am a T owner as well.

It all started when i wanted a single Hapalopus sp. Colombia Gros,...

..then ended up with 7 happy slings in deli cups.

Things haven't been all 7th Heaven though,.slings are hard,.and i recently lost one who was becoming my favorite.

Keeping slings is hard,.the ecosystem inside that deli cup is very fragile and i'm having a time finding the sweet spot between too moist and too dry.

Hopefully i can learn and my slings will grow into happy mature adults.

If you'd like, you can come along with me on this terrifying ride through spider parenthood.

its a journey!

i used to have 7 hapalopus sp. colombia. but i'm down to five T_T

Seven had a bad molt and we are convincd it was just too dry in the container..

Three died last night,.i noticed a few mold spores in the cup and told myself i would go get some more cups from ur friends store..when i gothome the next day,.the mold have bloomed and took 'Three' with it. I cried for like 30 minutes..i shouldve just moved him into 'Seven's'' old container..but i was still a bit shocked from /his/ passing.

Im stressed out,.i cant lose any more..this is so stressful.

Hi there Rabbit and welcome, sorry about your little one, what size enclosures are they in?
Know you said deli cups but that can be anything from an ounce to 32 ounces,
Wondering as I ordered a few really small ones.

Whoa that didn't look like a spiderling! That looks like an adult or close to it! At that size, you need to upgrade the enclosure size. The delis I see in the background would do nicely. There also doesn't appear to be enough ventilation around the sides. That might be why you're having trouble maintaining the appropriate moisture level.

Hi there, judging from your post and your pics, you have to much moisture and not enough ventilation. I would put holes in a ring around the middle, just above the substrate, as well as more holes in the top. I actually have 6 Columbia large slings at the moment. They each have a Gatorade cap full of water, and I moisten one side of their enclosure every week or two, and let the substrate dry out completely before moistening it again. The substrate should be moist, not wet. You should never have wet substrate, and the vent holes just above the substrate should eliminate mold issues. Slings are kept in small containers, and they're delicate at that stage, so you should never allow mold to form. Hope this is helpful :)

my Pumpkins are about a 1 1/4 inches across atm. Seven died from a bad molt,.We clipped the molt away from him hoping he would drop the limbs stuck in the remaining molt,.but he wouldnt eat at all and eventually i had to tell Nate that he'd passed. I freaking cried my heart out.

And yes, Since they are molting now, i've got him going to the store on his way home from work to get some of those clear cups from Kroger, the ones you buy fruit in. They are more clear than the ones i bought crickets in, those are more opaque and i wouldnt be able to see them burrowing.

Little Four is the only one to burrow so far, tunneling down the side of the cup to the bottom and made a little cavern. They need more room now that they are closer in size to our Rose Hair T.
