Hi my name is Andrew. I'm new to tarantulas. I also suffer from a bit of arachnophobia its actually why I planed on getting one. See my 5 year old is scared of all bugs weather it be insect or aracnid so I figured if I can't face my fears how can I expect him to. So I bought a g. Roses ended up with two thanks to local pet shop that had more than they wanted. Look forward to facing my fears and sharing the experiences I go through ;)

Hi and welcome.

I too bought my first tarantula to try to overcome my arachnophobia. I now have 39 and love them all but I still don't like spiders loose in the house although I'm not as bad as I was.

I don't know if I could handle all that lol but I do hope I will be get over this fear for my sons sake. The two I have are pretty calm I've been able to reach in and change there water bowls with out any issues my next step is to let one crawl on my hand but not sure if I'm ready for that.

I don't handle mine as it can stress them but I have had them run over my hand quite a few times and it hasn't bothered me.

I only have one species I can handle and that is a B.smithi. I tend to keep a lot more skittish and defensive species, and many of these also have strong venom.

Hello there Andrew and welcome to the forum...

I also have phobia with other unusual insects and large spiders... But now it lessen, and I know that having T's helps to lessen my fear on huge spiders...

Question how long should I wait too feed my tarantulas I got them last wed. I've offered them food but they have not shown interest in it I'm sure its just stress from the change in environment but still thought I should ask

Some will feed the day you get them but others won't until they settle. G. roseas do have a name for fasting though so I wouldn't worry. As long as they have access to water they should be fine

@AndrewBush89 Welcome! That's like me...trial by fire. I'm up to 31 T's and only started collecting in March. Quite the addiction, these T's are -- beware! (although I'm judging by your intro that you're already aware)

This is a great place to hang out and discuss all things T. When your loved ones, friends, even strangers, have had enough and tell you to shut up about your T's...you'll still have us to talk to. :D lol...
