Hi guys/girls.
So my GBB is in premoult and is not eating and has become very inactive. Should I be keeping the humidity up? I've read on the Internet the humidity needs to be in the region of 30%-50%. The enclosure is currently at 52% . Do I need to increase ?

Thanks for stopping by
And a merry Xmas !!

Hello
Can't see humidity being an issue with them, they are arid specimens. They originate from the desert,I only mist sides once every 4 weeks with a tiny water bowl and dry substrate.

Hi Martin cheers for the info. Since having my GBB I haven't supplied a water bowl as I read humidity isn't good for them and they get water from the prey . Is that right ?.

Thanks for stopping by

Mine tend to web up their water bowls, which makes it a pain to keep them filled, so I've resorted to dribbling some water on the web in a corner once a week or so to give them a drink if they need it. I've caught both of mine drinking from the web many times. I agree with Martin that they don't need extra humidity for the molt, but making sure they can get a drink if they want/need it is a good idea.

Hi tomoran.
I will put a water dish in the enclosure tonight when I get home. Both my GBB and B Emilia are in premoult so haven't seen much of them . My little G Pulchra sling is very active and is feeding well.

Thanks for stopping by

IMHO I feel that it is important to have a water dish in your tarantulas enclosure no matter how hard it is to get to. I like to know that my tarantulas can get to water whenever the mood strikes them. Also, the dish will help with the humidity levels. Again, this is just me. Usually the humidity level in our homes is enough for most of our tarantulas to molt just fine. I live in Southern CA so sometimes it is harder for me to get the humidity where it needs to be. If you are concerned you can always cover part of your cage lid to help.

Yup, I'm definitely a proponent of water dishes, although man do some make it difficult to keep them clean and filled. My GBBS are some of the worst, as they constantly web them over and I'm forced to dig the dish out or simply add a new one. I just rehoused one in a much larger enclosure and I'm hoping she leaves her dish alone!

I've actually been snapping photos whenever I see one of my Ts sipping from its dish; it's nice validation for all of the work. :)

I just got my first GBB. I cannot wait until the little bugger is webbing nicely. It is a pain to keep all the dishes cleaned and filled, but worth it.

It is nice to see them using their dishes! Did you post those pictures anywhere?
