Free Tarantulas

Over on an other tarantula board a real problem is starting. Are you seeing it much here? People are posting and asking for others to send them free tarantulas and equipment. They are newbes and actually just come out and ask for someone to send them some because they don't have any money. Well if they don't have any money how are they going to buy food and care for it?? One guy even bragged in a post that someone had sent him 3 or 4, and the next day this guy that had no money, put a post in the WTB, that he would pay up to $100 for a certain T. The same guy that begged for and got free T's. Have you seen this problem here??

Glad you know what I'm talking about. I hope it never starts here. I could not believe the guy posted he would pay $100 after begging for free Ts. I also could not believe some even defended him. I got into trouble with Mods for ripping the guy and his scam. The other guy, or the same one with a different user name, ask for cages, water bowls, heat pads and lamps and hides!!! Geeezzzz !! Am I the only one that thinks this is wrong? I tried to post in the "chat" my feelings on it and to warn others, and they removed my post and have never contacted me. I guess they condone it.

Really? That's surprising to hear about how the mods/admins handled it. I too hope that it doesn't become a common occurrence. I'm all for hobbyists hooking other hobbyists up, but I think blatantly soliciting it is a bit ridiculous.

Hello
In essence that's a scam,we handle them accordingly and follow simple but effective processes. If it's seen here, won't be seen for long. Hope you enjoy your time here with us welcome from team Tarantulaforum.com.

I agree Rick and know of the exact post(s) you are referring to... It is bad news and I think it was handled poorly by the mods on the other forum.

None the less people should not entertain such requests.

I do believe this is wrong. No matter what they are still living creatures and need a home and proper care so if you are unable to pay for their needs, you should not have them. It's different to make deals for a trade or even negotiating prices but to flat out say you have no money and you want them for free.. That's wrong. I mean even if you HAVE the money. Maybe you should spend it on food and supplies for your T so they can live out a long happy life as opposed to just having them as a "toy" to brag about when you really don't care other than bragging rights. People like that really irritate me. Can you at least TRY to act like a mature adult?!

I was very surprised that after him asking for free Ts because he had no money, he posted in WTB he will pay up to $100 for a
Female B. boehmei. Thats a scam, no other way to put it. The woman that sent him 4 Ts fell for it. The thing that really got to me IS the fact the mods have allowed him to continue posting and removed my post. I did not say names, I did not curse, I did not tell the Mods what to do. I only said how I could not believe people would fall for his scam, that I could not believe how people defended him and his tactics. I warned them about his post of willing to spend $100 he said he didn't have. I guess the truth hurts !! While the Mods did remove his OP and also removed the post wanting free equipment, They removed my post, with no infraction points being given and no explanation given either. I think common sense will prevail on this board.

Those are the exact words I used in my post that was removed my the Mods. A lot of you here are probably on that board too, but it's sounding like that sort of a scam will not be allowed here. GREAT !!!

An update you won't believe. The guy who did this, is now posting about how he has saved up a lot of money and is going to an expo to buy several T's. All this on the same board where he begged for free T's. What a jerk!!!! Just posted by him, he is buying a A. geniculata for $140.00. WOW!!! The Mods continue to allow this. I'm pretty much done with that board.

Geez, let them send them to me, at least they would have a good home!!!!
Would welcome them greatly...

Yes we would all except free tarantulas. But, to ask for them, then brag about what you got, then post you are buying $100s of dollars worth of T's, that blows my mind. Feel free to go over to that board and comment on him. His latest post in Chat is about 'ready to start a breeding program'. Even that involves him buying more Ts. How long you think that crap would last here, not long!! I would but the Mods have basically told me if I'm mean to him any more I will be suspended. They condone scams I guess.

True Rick, I was just saying they should find out where they go, if they give them away. No, I would not do that...
Didn't mean to upset anyone...

I'm not sure if I'm in the right section of this forum to ask this, but can anyone give me any advice or tell me "how" to breed A. Brocklehursti? Perhaps give me a link that has directions.....I'm not new to T's but I'm new to breeding.....never done it before and would like to give it a try......thanks so much!!! :)
