Hello, I just got my first spider, it's a purple pink toe, what's the next step? I tried to feed it a roach but it just moved away, and isn't moving. I know it has to get comfortable first, but should I leave food in there? Should I do anything else? Is the enclosure to small, because it's a big bigger than I expected. I used a 9oz cup, the spider looks to be about an inch long, and how do I tell if it's a boy or girl? I do have a cap of water in the enclosure.

In the other thread you mention this is a 0.5" but this one looks to be bigger around 1"-1.25"

A 16oz deli cup would work way better for this size spider.

Pictured would make a good temporary enclosure, as the spider will make a tunnel style web to feel comfortable in. If you could get those bigger deli cups it would be better.

16oz deli cup, substrate, ventilation holes for cross ventilation, slanted piece of cork bark, fake plants, water dish. Remove all prey that is not eaten within 12 hours.

Yeah, I was surprised by the size, but I made s new enclosure, this is in an 18oz cup.

I would probably remove uneaten food even sooner than 12 hours. Maybe 6 or 8 hrs
But the first step right now should be to let it chill out and adjust to the new enclosure. I wouldn't try feeding again for a couple days at least. Make sure there's enough water at all times.
