Finally got my dubias in today and my parahybana finally ate tried other things but not interested so dubia for the win
With my dubia I crushed it to allow a little movement held it above it and waitedI am curious if you did anything different with the Dubia or if your T just was more interested in it. How did you give it to your tarantula? Any different than the other prey you tried?
I am always concerned the dubia and superworms will burrow so I disable them. They still have some minor movement, just not enough to travel/get away. Crickets I let roam because eventually they will walk toward the tarantula. I think some tarantulas like more movement than others.
I believe it just desires the dubia more my parahybanas are slings so I'm learning as I go I'm brand new to this hobbyWith my dubia I crushed it to allow a little movement held it above it and waited

I'm just learning as I go the biggest thing I have to learn is patience lol because this hobby requires a lot of itOk, great. Sounds like you know what you are doing.
Crush the head & drop the dubia into the enclosure on it's back. Like that, their legs move a lot & you are much more likely to get a food response.
Edited to add. I keep dubia & many of my T's will not eat them. But, others love them.
I've tried mill worms cut into small pieces crickets done the same way my other parahybana and my t vagans both are eating machines but my other parahybana is picky as all get outAfter initially feeding my tarantulas superworms and occasionally crickets, I have diversified and tried Dubia more often.
Yes my t vagans and one of my parahybanas are absolutely eating machines my other one waits and then eats I absolutely love watching all there personalities each one is differentI fed mostly meal worms due to the size and easiness for cutting them up to feed to small slings. I just purchased a med size breeding colony of dubia as my collection has grown lol. Mine seem to be a bit freaked out by the heavy movement of the legs from the pre-killed dubias and others seem more excited to eat them. It's funny how some love what they know and others seem to like having different options. My one of my gbbs for example is now a juvenile and refuses to eat the meal worms, but the dubia on the other hand it loves to chase them down. I love Thier different personalities!. I could observe my T's all day!
