Hello everyone.
As this is my first post in the forum I leave a small presentation:
My name is Estéfano, I'm 19 and I live in the UK.
From very little that I'm fascinated by animals and nature in general and specially by snakes and tarantulas.
A few days ago, I finally was able to get my first T!! (I'm a noob)
The thing is, that the guy who sold her to me didn't know the exact specie, which is very important.
If someone could identify this tarantula for me it would be a great help!!
She is something like 5 months old and her name is Mathilda ahah
Cheers guys!!

At first glance I thought of a young pterinochilus chordatus. Although I haven't owned one. Kind of looked the the marks on the carapace were of that species... Maybe not as developed. Hopefully some one with a more confident answer can reply.

The guy who sold her to me told me that at the pet shop who he bought it from, sold her as a giant bird eating spider, but no specific name or he doesn't remeber.
As what I seen for that specie they only reach a legspan of 15 cm at best... This is already 8 or 9 and it is a baby... Do you think it is possible?

That rules out my guess haha. I wasn't too confident in it either. And I'm not too sure, they get around 11 inch legs pan or so. Less hair on the femur...I change my guess to T stirmi. I don't have one of those either.

It looks like a Hysterocretes sp, It's definitely African and Fossorial(burrower). So you need lots and lots of substrate for her to be happy. Hysterocretes can typically get to 20cm
In the future, don't buy something if you don't know what it is. It can be very problematic.

Thanks for the tips guys! It's very important for me to know her specie to know whats best for her, because I always take good care of my pets.
Perhaps if I hand you a video of her when I was taking her out of the vivarium, even though it's dark, it would make thing easier?
Unfortunatelly she is buried in her hole for 3 days now so I can't get a proper video.
Ill try to upload it on youtube and post it.
Yeah I will certainly do that, but the guy wanted to get rid of her and as I always wanted to have a tarantula I prefered to keep her instead of her going back to the petshop.
Ill post the video in a second guys, I think the pictures may be misleading.
Thanks a lot!!!

Im uploading a video to youtube, that way you will be able to see everything properly, just a couple of minutes and it is done.
Unfortunately I don't have anymore pictures from her as she is now burried in her hole -_- but I bet that the video will be clarifying
