My b emilia loves to climb. Sometimes she climbs when the AC is on. Sometimes when the fan is on. Why does she climb? She just fell and it scares me a little. She seems fine, i just don't want her to hurt herself. Any tips on how to stop it? I mean she has food water, proper temps and humidity hahaha i couldnt imagine why she'd do this. Her tank is a foot tall and it'd be a real pain and REALLY unwanted expense to rehouse him at this point but it's looking like i may have to if it tends to be an issue. She goes all the way to the top and even upside down like they do but sometime she just loses her grip D:

I'd go with Kurt and add more sub. A fall of a few inches onto a soft surface will probably not hurt anything (my B. smithi has taken a couple tumbles herself), but you want to avoid too much height. Also try not to keep decorations or plants in the tank that are sharp or rough.

any sugestions for a fill the tank style sub? she's on an inch and a half/2 inches of soft cocopeat but any fall more than the length of her body looks far to me. It'd be like 20 bucks with the bricks, i thought about moving her into one of those ugly 6 inch tall plastic encosures from petco but it'd be a shame, what she's in now looks so good and I don't know about heating the inside of a plastic "anything"(with scorpions, hermit crabs, t's, the stuff that fits neatly listed and pictured on the "box" it's in) containers

and she climbs all the time again, sometimes upside down(almost a foot above her resin enclosure O.O) and she slipped twice today within a couple of hours(the ac was on, then I moved it and she stopped climbing) could she be sick, does this recent slipping make her more likely to slip in the future? I worry for my lil girl :D

It's the air movement from the AC and the Fan. They don't like that. You shouldn't have a foot of space between the lid and the substrate. It should only be 1.5 times the legspan of the tarantula from the substrate to the top of the enclosure. Can you take a picture of her cage? Also are you keeping the substrate dry and only providing a water bowl? Is it packed down tight? I've heard they don't like it when they sink into the substrate. Personally my LP doesn't care, but it's my only terrestrial besides a couple slings.

Where do you live? You should only need 1 brick of substrate. I haven't seen it go for more than 5 bucks.

Also, heating. If the room it's in is warm enough for you to live in without wearing any extra clothing it's warm enough for your T. As long as it's 60 degrees to 90 degrees you don't have to worry about heating or cooling your T.

The tank is a foot tall, there's about 2 inches of substrate, I don't spray it or overflow his water dish, I haven't packed it down I'll try that thanks

Also, you can get coco fibre at most garden centres for a fraction of the price you will get it at petstores, so if you want to add more substrate but cost is a concern, I'd call around to some garden centres near you and check their pricing :)

mine does the exact same thing. Climbs then climbs and crawls all over its ceiling. I usually go to my room when it does that. It stresses me out. Lol

There is another thing it could be is there any way its mm insted of mf cuz mm will sometimes try to get out by climbing so that they can find a mate.

I'm fairly certain she is a female based on her previous molt, but I guess I'm not 100%(im DEFINITELY no expert). I'm also pretty sure she's a juvenile(if she's a male she doesn't have her palpal bulb, and she's only bout 3 inches long)

All spiders climb from time to time, even my giant LP climbs and his conditions are perfect.

I'm pretty sure yours is prone to climbing because of the fan and ac. So unless you fix that problem I don't think he will stop climb.
