Otherwise known, If I'm not mistaken, as a Texas Brown. This one I figure is about a yr old or a little more. I was wondering if there's any way to sex this right now or probably best to wait for a molt? Thanks!
I used ventral sexing to try and guess what my avic was. I think mine is a female but i could be wrong.
The best way to sex a T is by looking at the molt. My T hasnt molted and i didnt want to wait so i made a guess by using this website. It might be able to help you. Ventral sexing isnt very accurate though so dont expect it to be 100% http://milehighbugclub.com/Methods for Sexing Tarantulas.htm
Did you get this brown from the wild? I live in upstate ny, I wish we had Ts in the wild here. We have some cool orb weavers and jumping spiders but sadly no Ts.
A hentzi of that sized, would put it around 5 years old, maybe more.
They are unbelievably slow growers.
As for ventral sexing it, I suggest more photos, or you wait for a molt.
If you can get some more clear photos, I can try my best.
I've ventrally reviewed thousands of Aphonopelma, so it isn't difficult.
But I cannot tell from this photo.
Thanks guys! I'll just wait til it molts. Thanks for the info on the age. The daughter caught this in the backyard not too long after I sprayed insecticide. So I set up an enclosure for it and seems to be doing fine.
