Best age to get a tarantula?

Are you asking what age the keeper should be or what age the T should be?
I recommend Ts for kids. Especially if there is an understanding that Ts are mainly a pet for viewing and not handling. As for the age of the T, I'd go with a sling so you can watch it grow!
