I think this is a states' rights issue. Leave it up to the individual states. I am hoping that if it does pass, that it will not be enforced, like the federal law against marijuana is generally not enforced particularly in states where marijuana is legal.

Maybe it won't pass the Senate.

Well, they have not stopped all the hard drugs from coming into the country and across state lines, so I don't think that they will stop anyone who really wants exotic pets

Make tarantulas great again. I didn't vote for Biden.
Hmm, it’s not just Biden. Does this sound familiar?

MAR 10 2021

Washington, D.C. — U.S. Senators Marco Rubio (R-FL) and Brian Schatz (D-HI) introduced the Lacey Act Amendments of 2021 to address oversights in existing legal authority to prevent the importation of invasive species. The legislation would correct the negative impacts of a 2017 D.C. Circuit Court of Appeals decision that diminished the ability of the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service to manage the establishment and spread of invasive species in the United States. The bill would also grant authority for emergency designation of species that pose an imminent threat, and authority to prohibit importation of wildlife species not yet in trade until they have been assessed for injuriousness. Limiting the importation of not-previously-traded species before they have been assessed for invasiveness, and restricting the transport of known invasive species in interstate commerce, are two essential tools to slow the increased pressure from invasive species that already strain the response capabilities of both federal and state governments, and burden local economies.

I also did not find any mention of tarantulas nor of invertebrates in the pdf of the bill.

I personally feel that this is being overhyped by USArk and others.

I don’t know if this is good legislation or bad, and I never like it when politicians slip in riders on huge bills. But I have to wonder whether USArk and others would be so vocally opposed to this method if the rider had been beneficial to them. Would they call it sneaky or underhanded or devious? Or would they be fist bumping and French kissing each other ?

Two of my exotic's love to French kiss.

The Conure is from South America & the Ring Neck is from India. But both love some of that French stuff.
