How deep does the substrate need to be for this big ass spider to burrow ?

I got about 6" of it in the tank now and still have some of the mix to throw in it if I need to throw some more in there...

Now for the hide...

Instead of buying a cork bark piece, couldn't I just go strip a tree somewhere for its bark ?

Rinse it off with boiling hot water and then dry it out in the oven, to get rid of potential bugs and bacteria ?

Tarantula also could get as big as 11"...should the hide entry be 11"+ or will they curl to get in something smaller ?

When the burrow and nest are they balled up or stretched out ?

You could collect your own bark, just make sure to bake/boil it to kill whatever is in there. Cork is superior though if you find a nice piece.

The entrance should be bigger than the T. I doubt you’re going to get an 11” spider off the bat, so there’s always room to update down the line. You’re mostly going to find them available at 6-7” at expos.

Seen these at PetSmart while grabbing the coco fiber. If I can't get the zoo med brand I pictured earlier in AB, I'll go for one of these half rounds pictured. Probably the larger one, the smaller one doesn't look 4 to 6" wide.

Could work, just make sure the top isn’t slippery to where the T could fall off of it.

Let me know what you find. Only reason I ask is because when zoomed in, it doesn’t really look like wood. Seems plastic-like but I could be wrong!

This is a culture I have right now from them, lasted months and they’re still breeding like mad men. Has to be a few thousand in here.

Usually takes around a week, they use USPS. Make sure the temps aren’t too hot in your area!
