My A.Chalcodes, Cal, molted last night. I love the shiny black of him. He's probably about 5-6" now.

Where are the mating hooks?
I'm not sure how old he is. I've only had him since May 2017, wild caught. He was about 2-3" when I found him. This is second molt since I've had him.

I was able to get a better look at him this morning and, yes, he has the hooks and the papal hooks. Does this mean he won't live much longer?? Makes me sad.

The clock is ticking for him now...I've had males live almost 4 years after maturing. Currently I have two old males that matured a year and a half ago and they are still making sperm webs.I was able to get a better look at him this morning and, yes, he has the hooks and the papal hooks. Does this mean he won't live much longer?? Makes me sad.

Trip, my Poecilotheria metallica has moulted today. It looks as though all her past problems have sorted themselves out but I can't wait to see her out and about in all her glory instead of squished in the back corner of her container. .
